Love Has No Fear
DAILY DEVOTIONAL – 1st John 4:18 NLT
”Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love.”
We certainly need not fear His judgment. To be fearful is to lack confidence; to lack confidence is to show that God’s love has not been perfected in that person. Believers ought not be afraid of the future, eternity, or God’s judgment, because of God’s love. We know that He loves us perfectly (Romans 8:38-39). We can resolve any fears first by focusing on God’s immeasurable love and then by allowing Him to love others through us. God’s love will quiet fears and give confidence.
Brothers and Sisters-In-Christ, do we have any doubts that God really loves us? If we’re uncertain about how He sees us, it would explain some of the anxieties we feel. We see, whenever we fear someone is going to hurt us, we hide our true self from them. We don’t develop the intimate relationship that inspires trust and safety. Sadly, whenever we do so with our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ, we close ourselves off from experiencing the wonderful security, joy, and fulfillment God offers.
But be assured, our heavenly Father God wants to put all our uncertainties to rest so that we can enjoy His freedom. In our Lord Jesus, our eternal life is absolutely secure. He promises, “No one will snatch (you) out of My hand” (John 10:28). “Likewise, the Holy Spirit guarantees that nothing in all creation can separate us from His unconditional love” (Romans 8:38-39).
Brothers and Sisters-In-Christ, God wants us to have a healthy relationship with Him and enjoy the wonderful blessings He has for us. So let’s seek God’s face and ask Him to reveal His love. Surely doing so will drive out our fears.
In the Holy Spirit’s presence, we can find security in God’s love.
Let’s pray. “Father God, in the name of Jesus, and in the power of the Holy Spirit, reveal Your perfect, unconditional love to us. Draw us closer, drive out our fear, and make our relationship deep, strong, and unshakable, Amen!”
Praise our Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you Lord.
